1 December
1510 - the Marv battle between the Safavid troops and Sheybanis (Uzbeks).
1510 – Forces of Shah Ismayil defeated forces of uzbek Mahammad Sheybani, Khorasan ruler, around the Merv.
1920 - the head of the Bolshevik government in Azerbaijan - Provisional Revolutionary Committee Nariman Narimanov sent a letter to communists of Armenia and expressed consent with passing of Zangezur to Armenia.
1940 - The theater worker, playwright, actor, honored artist of Azerbaijan SSR Mirmahmud Miralakbər oglu Kazımovski (1882-1940) died.

1906 - a prominent historian and orientalist, professor, Honored scientific worker, State prize laureate Abdulkarim Alizade was born.
1913 - the well-known chemist and academician, State Prize winner, honored scientist Zulfugar Zulfugarov was born.
1920- well-known singer of ghazals, Alakbar Shahid poet was born. 
1991 - The Supreme Soviet applied with request of the recognition of the independence of Azerbaijan to the UN and world states.
1996 - The statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was adopted at the OSCE Lisbon (Portugal) Summit (2-3 December).
2008 - Baku Declaration was adopted at Conference of Culture Ministers of the Council of Europe “Intercultural dialogue is a basis for peace and sustainable development in Europe and its neighboring regions” 
on 3rd of December - International Day of Disabled People is marked all over the world.

4 December
1929 - The first reserve of state importance – Zagatala reserve has been established.
1931 - the well-known oilman, the state prize-winner Israfil Huseynov was born.
1950 - Honored scientific worker, professor, writer Kamal Abdullah (Kamal Mehdi oglu Abdullaev) was born.
1988 - at Lenin (now Liberty) Square in Baku the intervention of the army put an end to  the rallies began from 17th of November. 
1999 - President Heydar Aliyev signed a decree on amnesty. An act of amnesty declared on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the Council of Europe covered 11 thousand prisoners 4 thousand people were released from prison.
2008 – at the annual meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Helsinki the Azerbaijani delegation  disseminated a document On principles of a peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

5 December
1897-  Agasadıq Geraybayli, the People\'s Artist of Azerbaijan was born.

6 December              
1846 - Russian Czar Nicholas I signed a decree on rights of  beys  and agas in the South Caucasus.
in 1876  Latif Karbalayi, one of the first performers of accordion musical instrument of Azerbaijan was born in Shusha 
1881 – The day of the establishment of Azerbaijan communication. The first communication device phone was put into use on the same day in Baku.
In 1911, a well-known Azerbaijani scientist, geologist, academic Edhem Shıkhaebeyli. was born. 
1993 - with the decision of the National Assembly the temporary commission was established - the first working group drafting the new Constitution  
1996, December - the OSCE Lisbon summit
With the decision of President of Azerbaijan dated  December 2, 2006, in connection with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of telephone communications December 6 has been declared a professional holiday of workers of communication and information technologies.

7 December
1875 - co-founder of the Democratic Republic Fatali Khan Khoyski (1875-1920) was born in Sheki.
1918 – in Girls School building (now the Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS) of the well-known millionaire and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev Parliament of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic has started its work
On December 7, 1918 was the opening of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
1989 - The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan SSR expressed his opinion a week later to the decision of Armenian SSR Supreme Soviet on the annexation of Nagorno-Karabakh (December 1, 1989) 

8 December  
On December 8, 1897, Birthday of the first Azerbaijani epidemiologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor Ismail Akhundov

1922 - the Transcaucasian Soviet Congress began work with the participation of representatives of three Soviet Republics of South Caucasus.  
1924 - People\'s Poet, playwright, public figure Nabi Khazri (1924-2007) was born in Baku, Khirdalan.
1924 - one of the prominent representatives of the Azerbaijan literature of the 20th century, the people\'s poet Nabi Khazr, was born.  
1991 - Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians hold referendum on independence .

11 December

December 16, 2005- by the Order of President of the Azerbaijan Republic I. Aliyev the Ministry of Emergency Situations has been established.
1991 – At assembly of Supreme Soviet (Ali Majlis) of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Heydar Aliyev, who chaired the meeting decided to mark December 31 as Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis of the world. 
2005 - President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.                                        
December 16, 2005 – by Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan I.Aliyev  the Ministry of Defense Industry was established on the base of the State Committee for Special Engineering & Conversion.
By order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 8, 2006 the December 16 of each year is marked as holiday of workers the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

1993 - Azerbaijan\'s President Heydar Aliyev, who was visiting Paris officially, had signed the document on joining of Azerbaijan to Charter of Paris for a New Europe, one of the main documents of the CSCE (the OSCE was called until 1995).

1991 - The Swiss Confederation recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
2005 - passenger aircraft AN-140 flying on route Baku-Aktau (Kazakhstan) after few minutes of taken off  from the international airport named after Heydar Aliyev crashed near the village of Nardaran and fell down on the Caspian coast.

1991 - Iran recognized the independence of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on March 12, 1992.
1991 - The Israeli government recognized the independence of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations were established on April 7, 1992.
1991 - Libya recognized the independence of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations were established on March 16, 1992.

26 December
1802 - North Caucasus rulers and some of the khans of Azerbaijan signed Georgiyevsk agreement to pass under the patronage of Russia.
1901 - Azerbaijani commander, Major-General of engineering and technical services Mammadbagir Bagirov was born.

1991 – last Azerbaijani families were driven out from Khankendi (Stepanakert)
1991 - Cuba recognized the independence of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on March 27, 1992.
1991 - Australia recognized the independence of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations were established on 19 June 1992.
2001 - The decree on replacement of privileges in public utilities, transport and other areas with allowances.

27 December
927 - the next battle between the army of head of the troops of Sajids of Azerbaijan (now in the territory of South Azerbaijan) Yusif Sajoglu and Caliphate (Arab) took place near the Kufa town.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the process of annexation of Azerbaijan\'s territory to Russia was carried out in stages. In 1805 after Sheki and Talysh khanates the Shirvan land was also annexed to Russia.
1805 – after capturing  Karabakh and Sheki khanates (May 1805) the Russian troops marching on Shirvan khanate, entered the city Shamakhy 
1921 - the well-known zoologist, scientist, academician, honored scientific worker Musa Musayev was born.
1932 - the well-known composer, People\'s Artist Ogtay Kazimov was born.
1932 – the passage to mandatory passport system and procedure  of registration on place of residence in Soviet Union has been announced.

1991 – The referendum on the occasion of Constitutional Act on State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held.
1998 – the Constitution of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic was approved by the Milli Majlis and came into force.
1999 - Statute of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan President has been approved by Heydar Aliyev. 
1999 - by decree of national leader Heydar Aliyev the State Oil Fund was established 
2000 - President Heydar Aliyev appealed to the people of Azerbaijan occasion of the beginning of 2001, the XXI century and the third millennium.
