October 1 
1827 - Russian troops in the war with Iran (1826-1828) seized the fortress of Yerevan.
1965 - The singer of ghazals famous poet of Azerbaijan Aliaga Vahid (1894-1965) died.
1918 - The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan made a decision to establish the District Court in the prosecution organs in Baku. 
1992 – In the United Nations Headquarters in New York, representative office of Republic of Azerbaijan was opened. Till that date the representative Office of Azerbaijan located at the UN mission of Turkey.
2001 - Republic of Azerbaijan joined International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism  
2003 - President Heydar Aliyev treated in the United States, Cleveland Clinic, appealed to the people of Azerbaijan. 

October 2 
1991 - the Iranian government officially agreed to the trucks to pass through the territory of the country from Baku to Nakhchivan. 
1992 - The Armenian armed forces have occupied completely Khojavend region.
1995 - Diplomatic relations have been established between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

October 3 
1806 – at the first Russo-Persian War (1804-1813), the Russian troops occupied Baku.
1875 - Well-known writer, playwright Suleyman Sani Akhundov (1875-1939) was born.
1921 - A well-known medical scientist, professor Tamerlan Aliyev (1921-1997) was born.
1993 - the early presidential elections took place in Azerbaijan.

October 4 
1895 - The famous Soviet intelligence officer Richard Zorge, Hero of the Soviet Union (1895-1944), was born in a family of German colonists in Baku. 
2000 - Well-known composer, pianist, conductor, People\'s Artist of Azerbaijan, one of the founders of pop music Tofiq Guliyev (7.11.1917-2000) died.

October 5 
1901 - The first school for girls in Muslim - Girls School was opened.
1918 - The government of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan decided to annul the decision of Bolsheviks (Baku Soviet) on the nationalization of the oil industry and gave this field to the private sector.
1928 - a literary critic Masud Alioglu (1928 - 1973) was born.
1935 - The famous composer, People\'s Artist, Professor Khayyam Mirzazade was born.
1938 - Azerbaijan State Drama Theatre named after M. S.Vurgun staged the Vagif drama for the first time. 
1994 - the national meeting was held with the participation of hundreds of thousands of people arrived from various parts of the country in Baku\'s Freedom square. 
2002 - Azerbaijan\'s National Television and Radio Council had been established.

October 6
1923 - The Central Executive Committee of Azerbaijan SSR, taking into account the application of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast region, adopted the Decree on changing the name of Khankendi settlement to Stepanakert (in memory of the Dashnak-Bolshevik Baku commissar Stepan Shaumyan).
1998 - A new building the National Bank of Azerbaijan was opened in Baku.

October 7 
1369 - The great Azerbaijani poet, philosopher, thinker Sayyid Ali Imaddadin Nasimi (1369-1417) was born in Shamakhi.
1992 - Azerbaijani army units having military operations in Lachin-Shusha were defeated.
1992 - The National Assembly discussed a matter of joining of Azerbaijan to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) 
 2002 - next meeting  the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and Robert Kocharyan took place in the CIS summit in Moldova\'s capital Chisinau

October 8 
1821 - Russian Czar Alexander I issued a decree on the introduction of the preferential trade tariffs in South Caucasus 
1991 - An extraordinary session of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan has started.
1993 – in Moscow, the Presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia Boris Yeltsin, Heydar Aliyev, Eduard Shevardnadze and Levon Ter-Petrosyan met.

October 9 
1991 – at an extraordinary session of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan the decision On the national self-defense forces was adopted.
1992 - the first military parade of the National Army was held in Baku\'s Freedom square
1997 – in Strasbourg, within a Summit of Council of Europe Summit (October 9-10), the presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova met.
2009 - The representative of the modern Azerbaijan literature, the writer Alibala Hajizade died.

October 10 
1812 - the Aslanduz battle that had a significant effect on the results of the war during the first Russian-Iranian war (1894-1813), took place.
1911 - Well-known literary critic, translator, scientist, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, engaged in textual criticism, Abbas Zamanov (1911 - 1.4.1993) was born in Nakhchivan Sharur.
1935 - Honored art worker, poet Hamid Abbasov (Hamid Abbas)  ( 1935 - 19.11.1999) was born.
1935 - Poet, playwright Shakar Aslanov (Shakar Aslan) (1935 - 13.07.1995) was born in Baku.
1939 - Well-known scientist-orientalist, Doctor of Philology, Professor Aida Imanguliyeva (1939-1992) was born.
1993 - the solemn inauguration of Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev was held.
1994 - Diplomatic relations were established between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State of Kuwait.
1997 – In Strasbourg, the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents Heydar Aliyev and Levon Ter-Petrosyan met. 

October 11
1959 - director of photography Rovshan Guliyev was born. Since 1977 he has been working in the “Azerbaijanfilm” studio.
1983 – people writer Suleima Rahimov (1900-1983) died.
1998 - the next presidential elections took place in Azerbaijan.
1999 – at Azerbaijani-Armenian border, at Sadarak section (Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic), Presidents  Heydar Aliyev and Robert Kocharian met.
2007 - President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the Vilnius energy summit.

October 12
1813 – by ending the war between Russia and Iran (1804-1813), a peace treaty of Gulistan was signed.
1992 – in Moscow, Friendship, cooperation and mutual security treaty was signed between Russia and Azerbaijan
2005 – in Marneuli region of Georgia, Opening Ceremony of the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline was held.

 October 13
1827 – at Russo-Persian War (1826-1828) Russian troops entering the South Azerbaijan territory had seized Tabriz.
 1880 - With the launch of the Baku-Sabunchi-Surakhani line the railway transportation was founded in Azerbaijan.
 1921 - Turkey signed the Treaty of Kars with Russia and the three Soviet republics of the South Caucasus - Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

October 14
1933 - The well-known representative of the contemporary poetry of the folk poet Mehmet Aras (1933-2004), was born in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
1993 - The UN Security Council adopted Resolution 874 on the Armenian-Azerbaijaniconflict.
2004 - The Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN formally requested the inclusion of the matter on The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan at the agenda of 59th session of the UN General Assembly.
 
October 15
2002 - President Heydar Aliyev attended the 7th Summit of heads of member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Istanbul.
2008 – at the next presidential elections in Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev from  New Azerbaijan Party was elected to a second term.

October 16
1855 - Well-known military man, artillery Lieutenant-General Ali bey Mehmandarov (1855-1931) was born in Lankaran.
1923 - Poet, prose writer, doctor of philological sciences, professor Gulhussein Huseynoglu was born in Mollaoba village of Masalli region.
1926 - Composer, teacher, People\'s Artist, Professor Ramiz Mustafayev (1926 - 10.4.2008) was born.
1946 - The director of photography Kochari Mammadov (1946-2008) was born in Gadabey.
Since 1969 he worked in “Azerbaijanfilm studio.
1949 - honored scientist, academician, a well-known literary critic and scholar Isa Akbar oglu Habibbayli was born in Danyeri village of  Sharur region of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. 
1992 - group of intellectuals of Azerbaijan had appealed to Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev and called on him to take an active part in the political life of the country, and asked him to take over the leadership of the newly established political organization.
2004 - in the village of  Boyuk Kasik of Agstafa region at Azerbaijan and Georgian (Gardabani region) border connecting ceremony of oil pipeline  parts of the Azerbaijan and Georgia of  Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline  named after  Heydar Aliyev. 
2007 - President Ilham Aliyev attended the second Summit of Heads of State (the first summit was held in Ashgabat in April 2002) of the Caspian littoral states in Tehran (Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan)

October 17
1612 – Sarab peace Treaty was signed on the results of the next war between the Safavids and the Ottoman Empire.
1905 - The famous writer Mohammad Asad bey (Kurban Said, 1905-1942) was born in Baku.
1915 - The operator, director, People\'s Artist Javanshir Mammadov (1915-1997) was born in Shusha.
1924 - Honored art worker, poet Hussein Razi was born. Died on February 17, 1998.
2003 - The famous poet, journalist Nusrat Kasamanli (25.9.1946-2003) died.

October 18 
1918 - Well-known literary critic, the founder of the science of mythology in Azerbaijan Mirali Seyidov was born.
1948 – Academician, President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Mahmud Karimov was born.
1949 - A well-known theater and film director Vagif Ibrahimoglu was born.
1991 - Azerbaijani parliament - the Supreme Soviet adopted the Constitutional Act On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
1991 - President Ayaz Mutalibov gave a decree on the establishment position of the head of the executive power of the regions and cities.
1994 - President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev attended the 2nd summit of heads of Turkic-speaking countries held in Istanbul.
2002 – during visit of Head of the Armed Forces of NATO in Europe, the commander of U.S. forces in Europe Joseph Ralston  the agreement on participation of Azerbaijani peacekeeper within  a contingent of Turkish troops in the peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan.

October 19
1898 - member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, the famous scientist, Professor Feyzulla Qasymzade (1898-1976) was born.
1910 - The famous filmmaker Hussein Seyidzade (1910 - 2.6.1979) was born in Yerevan.
1937 - A well-known conductor, professor, People\'s Artist Rauf Abdullayev was born.
1951 - The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs in 1993 - 1995, the commander of Special Police Unit (XTPD) Rovshan Javadov was born in Lachin region 
1991 - The Armenian armed forces has committed a terrorist act against Azerbaijani population of Nagorno-Karabakh. 
1999 - The National Assembly has decided to allow participation of Azerbaijani military men at the international peacekeeping military operation in Kosovo (KFOR).
2005 – on the eve of Parliamentary Elections (6th  November 2005)  number of high-ranking officials that allotted huge amounts  has been exposed in the coup d\'etat attempt in association with forces of radical opposition 

October 20
1141 - the great Azerbaijani poet, great thinker Nizami Ganjavi  (1141-1209) was born in Ganja.
1913 - A well-known poet Ahmed Jamil (1913-1977) was born in Yerevan.
1922 - People\'s Artist, the famous singer Shovket Alekperova (1922-1993) was born.
1940 - A prominent social and political figure Hasan Hasanov was born in Tbilisi, Georgia.
1981 - One of the largest enterprises of country economy, “Azerbaijan” thermal power plant (TPP), the country\'s energy flag carrier, was launched in Mingachevir.

October 21
1603 – in Tabriz popular uprising against Ottoman rule began.
1932 - The outstanding representative of Azerbaijan literature, revolutionary-minded poet and social activist Khalil Rza Uluturk (1932-1994) was born in the village of Pirabba of Salyan region. 
1987 - Heydar Aliyev resigned from the Soviet leadership under the pressure of General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Mikhail Gorbachov. 
1993 - Republic of Azerbaijan and Brazil (our country\'s independence was recognized on December 26, 1991) had established diplomatic relations.

October 22
1688 - Turkish noble Iranian Shah, Nadir Shah Afshar (1688-1747) was born in Khorasan.
1919 – great writer and playwright, son of Hussein Javid,  composer  Ertugrul Javid was born. 
 1999 - The European Union\'s supreme executive body, the European Commission adopted a resolution on the South Caucasus and urged Azerbaijan to have economic cooperation with Armenia.
2002 - Mercury-2 ship-ferry belonging to  Office of the Caspian Sea Shipping Company  wrecked and sank in 130 kilometers out of Baku.

October 23
1978 – by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Nakhichevan region was named as Babak region.
1991 - by the decision of the  USSR State Council (which was established after August Putsch by the Soviet Union Parliament and the temporary governing body implementing the collapse of the USSR)  the USSR State Security Committee had been abolished.
1998 - the new composition of Cabinet of Ministers  resigned in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution was formed after country\'s next presidential election (11 October 1998).
2002 - 1st Vice-President of State Oil Company, MP Ilham Aliyev during a visit to Washington held meetings with the U.S. Vice-President Richard Cheney, congressmen, political circles.

October 24
1882 - The great philosopher-poet, writer, playwright Huseyn Javid (Hussein Mulla Abdulla oglu Rasizade, 1882-1941) was born in Nakhchivan.
1919 - The U.S. military representative to the South Caucasus, Colonel Gaskel acted with initiative to give Nakhichevan to administration of the U.S. governor-general in order to resolve debate over the region between Armenia and Azerbaijan and declare it as a neutral zone.
1929 - scientist, Professor Shamistan Mikhailov was born in Fakhrali village of Borchali district. (Georgian Bolnisi region).
1992 - The U.S. Congress made an amendment to the Act  No 907, Freedom Support Act, the law governing humanitarian aid to the former Soviet republics. 
1993 - Armenian occupational forces launched a new attack in the south of Garabagh.
2008 - the official inauguration of  Ilham Aliyev, elected as president of the Republic of Azerbaijan for second term, was held.

October 26
1883 - The famous actor, People\'s Artist Mirzagha Aliyev (1883-1954) was born.
1912 - People\'s artist, one of the first female theater artists Badura Malik kizi Afqanly   (Agamalova) (1912 - 7.5.2002) was born.
1912 –U. Hajibeyov’s Arshin mal alan musical comedy was first performed in Baku (Tagiyev Theatre).
1921 - People\'s Artist  Najiba Hashim kizi Malikova (1921 - 27.7.1992) was born.
1991 - decrees on the establishment of the post of the Council of State and Secretary of State were issued. 
1997 – export of Azerbaijani oil to the northern route - the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline began 
2001 – in the U.S. Senate after intense negotiations, decision was made on suspension of 
the act of discrimination against Azerbaijan - Freedom Support Act Amendment No. 907.
 2002 - the presentation of State Program on Poverty Reduction and Economic Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan” was held in Gulistan palace. 
2005 - President Ilham Aliyev issued Order “On urgent measures associated with the preparation and conducting of elections to the National Assembly.

 October 26
1880 - The famous tar player, People\'s Artist of the Gurban Pirimov (1880-1965) was born in the village of Abdal-Gulably  of Shusha district.
1917 – in Baku Musavat party\'s first congress (26-31 October) started.
1926 - The famous oil Gurban  Abbasgulu oglu Abbasov (Oilman Gurban, 1926-1992) was born in Payiz village of Babak region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
1999 - U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Telbott arrived in Yerevan and then in Baku to discuss the situation on negotiations around Garabakh conflict. 

October 28
1911 - The representative of the XX century Azerbaijan literature, writer, playwright, social activist Mirza Ibrahimov (1911-1993) was born.
1993 - United States Department of State made a statement in connection with the expansion of
aggression against Azerbaijan by Armenian armed (occupation of Zangilan, Jabrail, Fizuli regions) 
1995 - a horrible accident took place in Baku Metro. 

October 29
1991 - The Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted a decision to ask to the United Nations on the recognition of the independence of Azerbaijan.
1993 - The attacks of Armenian armed forces led to occupation of Zangilan, as well as the occupation of the settlements along the Araz river of Jabrayil and Fuzuli regions
1994 - United Nations Secretary-General Boutros Ghali visited to Baku at the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev.
1994 - Diplomatic relations were established between Azerbaijan and Mauritania.
2004 – at the 59th session of the UN General Assembly, the issue of The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan was included in the agenda of the session by a majority votes  2008 - President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on appointment of Arthur Rasizade as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

October 30
1907 - A well-known journalist, translator and publisher Adil Efendiyev (1907-1973) was born in Georgia Akhalsikh region
1918 – being defeated at World War I, the Ottoman Empire had to sign  Mudros peace  treaty  with  winner countries of the Entente (Britain, France, USA)  on the commitment to remove troops from Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus.
1928 - Well-known art critic, director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, the academic Rasim Efendiyev was born.

October 31 
1955 - The composer Zulfugarov Jahangir was born in Baku. Works in State Puppet Theater named after Abdullah Shaig.
1963 - the composer Nadir Azimov was born 
1969 - Actress Angel Abbaszade was born. Graduated from Film actor Faculty of all-Union State Institute of Cinematography in 1990.
1992 - The first Summit of Heads of Turkic-speaking countries finished in Ankara (October 29-31).
2003 - the official inauguration (inauguration) of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was held.
