Settling geography of Azerbaijani Diaspora Near 50 millions Azerbaijanians live in about 70 countries of the world, including the Azerbaijan Republic. It is known that compatriots ethnic Azerbaijanians living in historical territories, turned to foreign citizens as a result of border changes at course of certain social-political events, without the fact of any migration, living in border regions of countries like Iran, Georgia and Russian Federation are not considered as Diaspora. The number of the fellow-countrymen that had moved to the other areas like American continent (1300000 persons), European continent (1500000), African continent (1200000), Asian continent (3250000), Turkey (3000000), Australia and Oceania (10000 persons) in the different time is more than 10 million and this figure according to opinion of the experts, can be accepted as the general the number of Azerbaijani Diaspora. Azerbaijanis in the American continent: Azerbaijanis mostly settled in Northern, Central and Southern parts of American continent. Their number in the USA reaches one million, 12 thousand in Argentine, 75 thousand in Brazil, 170 thousands in Canada, 27 thousands in Mexico. Azeris are settled in other American countries like Honduras, Guatemala, Peru, too. Majority of the Azerbaijanis settled in the America are those migrated from Southern Azerbaijan, the flow of Azerbaijanis from Turkey that began since 1970 and from Azerbaijan since 1991 had its impact on composition and social – economic activity of the Diaspora. Azerbaijanis in the European continent: The second biggest continent for the geography of spreading of Azerbaijani Diaspora and for number is European continent. According to latest statistics the number of the Europe Azerbaijanis is in millions in Turkey and Russia, hundred thousands in the Ukraine and Belarus, Germany, Great Britain, tens thousand in the Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, France, Italy, over ten thousand in the Poland, Spain, Austria, Albania, Finland, Portugal. The number of the Azerbaijanis settled in the other countries of the West is between 2-10 thousand persons in the each country respectively. Majority of the Azerbaijanis living in the Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland and Germany are Azerbaijanis migrated from Turkey. But our fellow-countrymen living in Great Britain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and France are people moved from Iran and the Azerbaijan Republic. Azerbaijanis in the Asian continent: The 3rd great part of Azerbaijani Diaspora has been settled in the Asian continent. Their number is of hundred thousands in Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan and Central Asian republics and ten thousands in Indonesia, Yemen Republic, China, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria and millions in Iraq The number of the Azerbaijanis settled in Africa is tens of thousands in Egypt and Algeria and 17 thousand persons in Sudan. As a whole, in the result of studies carried out recently it has been determined that our fellow-countrymen settled in the South African Republic and Zaire, too. Azerbaijanis in the Australian continent: The number of the Azerbaijanis living in different countries of the world shown below (as per approximate calculation):
Presently Azerbaijani Diaspora organization function in approximately 45 countries of the world successfully and these organizations makes efforts to provide of the unity among Azerbaijanis living in the foreign countries, being based on national, ideological, spiritual, political and economical factors.
