Azerbaijan is one of incomparable countries of the world not only because of its beauty and anciency but also some resources.

9 climatic zones

There are 13 climate zones in the world and Azerbaijan has 9 of them.

Azykh cave

The cave is situated in Khojavand region of Azerbaijan. Unfortunately it should be pointed out that Azerbaijan territory under the cave where the most ancient men used to live has been under occupation since 1993 and there is no information on the state of the cave after the occupation. The square of the Azykh cave is 800 km2. There are 8 corridors of 600 m length here. The height of some corridors is up to 20 m. The Azykh cave is one of the biggest ones discovered in the world till now.

International Mugam Center

Mugam center is opened at the seaside National Park in Baku. The form of the building reminds of the tar parts that is one of the ancient musical instruments of Azerbaijan. The Equipment necessary for the building constructed  using the state-of-the art technology was brought from Italy, Austria, France and Turkey. It is the first Mugam Center in the wold.

The Argan Tree

The argan tree growing in the south region of Azerbaijan is one of the rare gems of the Azerbaijan soil. It is very interesting that the a piece of this tree neither burns in the fire nor sinks. It is impossible to drive a nail into this tree either. Duration of life of the tree growing in the Talysh woods is more than 200 years. Another wonder is that the branches of the tree merge while rubbing  with each other. As the argan tree has a strong wood, it is generally used in telephone  and electric posts, in the construction of bridges and in making  some parts of cars and instruments.

The State Flag Square

It is a memorial monument- Relaxation Park situated in Baku, Bayil settlement. The grand opening of the Square was in September 1, 2010. The height of the supporting block erected in the square of 20000 m² is 162 metre, diameter of the foundation - 3,2  metre, the diameter of the top surface – 1,09 metre. The width of the Flag is 35 metre, length – 70 metre, total area – 2450 square metre and the weight – 350 kg. In May 29, 2010 Guinnes World Records confirmed the post of Azerbaijan State Flag to be the heighest in the world. 

Salt mountain of Nakhchivan

It is one of the symbols of Nakhchivan. His natural resources make 90 million tonnes. This mountain being the only one in the world is famous both for its pure salt and healing peculiarities. They say that the salt was extracted here 6 thousands years ago. Before world-wide known “Silk Way” there was “Salt Way” extending from Nakhchivan to the countries of Middle East. The salt was transported from here to these countries.
Here operates the Salt Mountain Physiotherapy Center which is famous  all over the world. 

Neft Dashlari

It is the first oil platform in the world. Its foundation was laid in 1947. One of the famous adventures of James Bond - The World Is Not Enough movie’s main shots is filmed here in Neft Dashlari. Neft Dashlari is town-like settlement and is situated in the territory of the Caspian Sea. It was built around “Black Rocks” slightly protruding from the Caspian Sea. The settlement situated south-east in 42 km of the Absheron peninsula was built on the trestle bridge standing on the metal blocks fixed to the bottom of the sea, some meters high from the level of the sea. 
 
Gobustan conservation

This is the conservation where complex of archaeological monuments of Azerbaijan is reserved. The conservation is situated in Gobustan settlement of Garadag region, 56 km away from the capital Baku. There is also a museum functioning here. Gobustan is one of the first holy places of art culture of the world where the ancient dance and musical cultures are formed.   

Yanardag (Burning mountain)

It is considered one of the wonders of the world. Before the religion of Islam Yanardag was a place of religious faith and a shrine for fire worshippers. There are a lot of legends and rumours about this monument. 
Not far away from Yanardag i.e. 200 meters south there is a weak volcano erupting and scattering around water with slime. When bringing a lighter nearer to the mixture of the volcanic water and sulphur trioxide that comes out of the earth one can see burst of a fire for a moment. The fire burning around the monument can reach the height of 10-15 meters. The glitter of the fire is clearly seen in winter. 

Mud volcanos

In comparison with magmatic volcanoes it is spread in the restricted areas. Mud volcanoes are accumulated in the territory of 16000 km². It seems as if that majestic manifestation of the nature with unsolved secrecy were purposely animated here with all the variety of its forms and types. that is why Azerbaijan is considered a homeland of mud volcanoes. The territories of Azerbaijan where the mud volcanoes are widespread are Absheron Peninsula, Shamakhi-Gobustan and the Lower Kuryan cavities, the Baku Archipelago and the territories bordering with Georgia.  

Eldar pine

Eldar pine (Pinus eldarica) is an endemic tree that naturally grows only in Azerbaijan on the right bank of Gabirri river and in Elleroyugu mountain. In November 1910 on the proposal of countess K.S.Uvarova the territory of 3,5 thousand ha being the first preserved territory in the Caucasus where Eldar pine is spreaded, was declared a botanical conservation and preserved.

Caspian seal

Caspian seal (Phoca caspica) is the only specimen of the pinnipeds that is included into the Guinness Book Records as the smallest seal in the World Ocean. This endemic species is spread only in the Caspian Sea. Its name is enlisted in “Red List” of International Union for Conservation of Nature. 
 
Caspian Locust Caspian Gleditschia

İt is a species of Gleditsia. It is a rare species with the reducing areal. It grows only in Azerbaijan, in the regions of Astara (vicinity of Mashan and Alasha villages) and Lankaran (Alekseyevsk village).  

Kharibulbul (Ophrys caucasica)

It is a species of orchids. Kharibulbul is a rare endemic species in Azerbaijan and in the world. This plant is found in the territory of Karabakh. It is famous for its beauty. 

Lankaran siris (Albizia Julibrissin)

 It is a species of plant which is related to Julibrissin variety of plants. The Plant was spread only in Azerbaijan in the Talysh woods. Silk tree acacia is of a decorative significance and a good melliferous plant as well. The rind of the tree contains a tanning agent to some extent and is used in dying the cloth by a local population. The dried petioles of stamen are used as a cough medicine in the folk medicine.

Chestnut oak

It is the species of an oak and the family of beech. It is found only in Azerbaijan, in the Talysh woods and Ismayilly district. It is used in the various  branches of the national agriculture: in the construction, the making of the railroad ties and etc.

“Ardebyl Carpet” or “Sheikh Sefi Carpet”

It is a famous carpet of “Lechekturunj” composition woven in Tebriz (56,12 square meters, kept in Victoria and Albert Museum of London), the best pattern of ornamental carpets, the masterpiece of Tebriz school of carpetry. It was woven bu the order of Sephevi Monarch Tahmasib I for Ardebil Mosque in 1539. The carpet was bought by the English and brought to London in 1893. It was considered the largest carpet of the world for a long time. 

Shirali Muslumov

Shirali Muslumov was one of the long-lived inhabitants of the world (168 years). He was born in Barzavu village of Lerik region in 1805 and died in 1973. Shirali Muslumov was married 3 times and had 23 children. Azerbaijan film studio shooted a documentary film about him “Shirali descended the mountain” in 1966. He became a father of a daughter when he was 136 years old. He was included into Guinness Book Records for longevity.  

Teymur Rajabov (1987)

He is one of the leading chess players of Azerbaijan, International Grand Master (2001). When  he was 14, Teymur Rajabov updated the record of the youngest Grand Master of the world and is considered child prodigy in chess.

Mobile diagnosis

For the first time in the world in Azerbaijan it will be possible to reveal latent period of the germination of pathological processes in cardiovascular system by means of mobile phones. Thus, a theory of noise analysis and robust program-apparatus methods that provide monitoring of the latent period of the germination of pathological processes in cardiovascular system, is developed and the possibility of favorable opportunity for mass use by using mobile phones shown in the Institute of Cybernetics of Azerbaycan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). It will be possible to track the monitoring of the latent period of cardiovascular diseases or the change in dynamics with such patients by means of mobile phones till the end of this year.

Mini-computer for the blind

A mini-computer for the blind is designed in Azerbaijan for the first time in the world. A pilot sample of the mini-computer managed by voice for persons with the impaired vision and poor hearing capabilities, was produced by “Neyro-Tex” Company for the first time in the world. The new device differs from the others in the lack of a monitor and a keyboard and managing all the orders through microphone. Mini-computer by means of vocal orders is equipped with the possibilities allowing that persons to on-line familiarize themselves with the latest news, use e-mail, sound e-texts and what is more, accept and answer telephone calls.

Brucellosis is cured forthe first time

The experts in veterinary medicine and scientists developed a bioactive substance against Brucellosis in Azerbaijan. For the first time in the world this substance caused the 100% recovery of all the animal species that are infected with brucellosis during 7 days. The new bioactive substance was patented in 2008.

First Children\'s Museum

The first Children\'s Museum of the world will be founded in Baku. The various  art examples will be exhibited for the children in the museum to be founded by  the Azerbaijan Carpet and  National Applied Art Museum. The propaganda of various types of art examples for the children and particularly carpet-weaving art on the decorative and applied arts will be in the spotlight.

Temple of fire

Ateshgah is called in place where a fire played with wind. According to historical sources, Ateshgah is one of the rare sacred sanctuaries of the world, which was built at place of natural gas, the eternal gas, in the XVII-XVIII centuries. Some of the earliest construction of the temple belongs to the year AD 1713. The temple-altar was built with funds of the Indian merchant Kanjanagara in 1810. Ateshgah was built by Hindu Sikhs, originally from the North India that came and settled here in Baku.
 Ateshgah is located in a little distance from the sea, on the Apsheron Peninsula, at the south-eastern end of the village of Surakhany, near the oil fields.
At present, only two places in the world – in North India and here in Azerbaijan such temple of fire exist.
At one time, Temple of Fire made chemists- scientist Mendeleyev, the famous Russian artist Veresshagin, French writer Alexander Duma (father), the Nobel brothers, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, world famous film director Raj Kapoor, orientalist scientist Dorn and many famous people impressed.

Plane-tree grove

The only natural plane forest in the Europe is located in the western part of the Lesser Caucasus - in Zangilan region of Azerbaijan. It covers an area of 117 hectares on Basitchay. 107 hectares of it belongs to the State Natural Reserve of Basitchay. The reserve was established in 1974. Forest length is 15 km, width of 150-200 meters. The main non-uniqueness of the reserve is that there are 1500-year-old, 53 meters in height, 4 m diameter of body ancient trees, which have been preserved to this day.
Unfortunately, this plane is currently in danger of being destroyed by the Armenian army.

Ashabi-Kahf

Ashabi-Kahf is a Sanctuary located in the natural cave between Ilandag and the Mountain Nahajir, approximately 12 km away from the city of Nakhchivan of Azerbaijan. It is one of the world\'s rare sanctuaries. There is information in the ancient religious literature, as well as in the holy Koran about existing of similar name place in the territory of Asia Minor or Palestine. However, in accordance with comprehensive studies carried out the sanctuary mentioned in Holy Quran is the same of the Nakhchivan.
Acquaintance with the structure, the natural geographical conditions of the cave allows to say that  it was one of the world’s early settlements.

Miniature Book Museum

The miniature museum was opened on April 23, 2002. The museum was established in Baku at the date of the International Book and Copyright Day marked in the world each year by the decision of UNESCO. The museum is the world\'s first private museum of Miniature Books.
The exposition of the museum was placed in 27 showcases. 3750 miniature books published in 60 countries were exhibited in showcases. The book fund of the museum has more than 5300 miniature publications. They were collected by founder of the museum Zarufa Salahova during more than twenty years.
People coming to the museum can be acquainted with miniature books published in Azerbaijan, Russia, USA, Japan, England, France, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Cuba, Switzerland and the former Soviet republics.

Naphthalene oil

Naphthalene oil is one of the most valuable natural resources of Azerbaijan. This is the only oil in the world besides having the legendary features of its medical importance, differs from other oils for the physical-chemical features.  The main feature of this oil is having of a high specific weight, the light fraction in the composition and solid paraffin hydrocarbons. Sufficient number of resin in the composition and formation of solid emulsion with the water makes the naphthalene oil different from other oils. Naphthalene oil, which is the only oil in the world for medical feature, is situated 50 km away from the Ganja city of Azerbaijan Republic at foothill of  Murov mountains.
 Naphthalene oil is famous in the world as the exclusive means with healing properties of bone - joint, skin, gynecological diseases and urological diseases, nervous, gynecological, and urological and skin diseases, as well as liver diseases, rheumatic joints, and soft tissues outside of the support apparatus. 

Sheki Khan Palace

The date of the construction of the palace, which is named at period of the Khanate as “Courthouse (Divankhana) is considered to be 1760-1765 years in the scientific literature. Sheki Khan Palace, which is the only architect in the world with its originality, was designed by Haji Zeynalabdin from Shiraz. There is a special construction style of the palace. It is enough to show that during the construction of the palace not a single nail or adhesive was used. Khan Palace consists of 2 storeys, 6 rooms, 4 corridors, 2 mirrored balconies. Sheki Khan Palace, at the same time is one of the rare pearls of Azerbaijan Art and Applied Art. Painting samples of the palace kept its miracle and attractiveness up to this day. Its walls are decorated with pictures on different topics. Names of five artists, who decorated the palace at various times, are known. 

Khynalyq and people of Khynalyq

The people of Khynalyq is one of the ethnic nations of Azerbaijan. Among the ethnic minorities in Azerbaijan they are distinguished with unique ethnographic features. This ethnos belongs to the Caucasian language family, and for their location around Shahdag they are called in historical and ethnographic literature as Shahdag peoples. The people of Khynalyq are considered to be the most ancient inhabitants of Azerbaijan. This ethnos has the only language and the settlement in the world. In other words, in the ethnic map of the world there is only one village of Khynalyq and its language, which belongs to the Guba region of Azerbaijan.
