Test and bans

Sinama is one of the least genres of Azerbaijan folklore. This genre is spread among people with names of inanc (belief), yozum (interpretation), yozma, inam (faith), yasaq (prohibition). Believes of the Azerbaijanis are divided into to three:

Daily way of life of the people has been connected with different belief and faiths: Çörəyi əllə kəsməzlər, Süfrəyə duz dağılanda dava düşər, Əldən çörək sıçrayanda sevinərsən etc.

Bigger part of believes was formed with nature events, plant and the animal kingdom: Baltanı üzü yuxarı qoysaq, yağış kəsər, Tısbağanı ayağından assan, yağış yağar, Ay tutulanda mis qabları döyəcləyərlər, Gəlin köçənə yasəmən verməzlər, Əncir ağacını budamazlar etc.

The heavenly bodies, their motion, order etc. have made definite tracks in the poetical thinking of the people and it has been a cause for formation of the definite believes: Bəxt ulduzunu görən xoşbəxt olar, Ulduzu axanın ömrü sona yetər, Gün batan vaxtı doğulan uşaq gününü qürbətdə keçirər etc.

Cult of water, fire, land has been reflected in the myths related to ancient ideas: Su içənə toxunmazlar, Qaynar suyu yerə atmazlar, Vəfat edən adamın əli açıq qalarsa, əlinə torpaq qoysan yumular etc.
